Consesta

Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG

Among the D.O.C.G. wines of Tuscany, Vernaccia di San Gimignano definitely holds a prominent position as the region’s only white wine bearing this certification. Vernaccia di San Gimignano is a native grape variety with ancient historical origins (we like to remember how it was the only wine mentioned by Dante Alighieri in the 14th Canto of Purgatorio in his Divine Comedy) and already appreciated in the mid-13th century.

It is definitely a wine worthy of note, not only as the only D.O.C.G. white wine amongst a host of reds, but also and above all for its organoleptic characteristics, such as a marked savouriness and remarkable ageing capacity. Its aromas and flavours unfold as time goes by and will amaze you after some bottle ageing.

Tasting notes

Visual examination reveals a characteristic straw yellow colour with golden hues, which become more pronounced with age. The aromas are typically of fresh fruit and our Consesta has a pronounced scent of citrus, green apple and peach when young, with pear and apricot emerging distinctly after a few months in the bottle.

Its savouriness, minerality and unexpected body will excite you with traditional or more modern and almost daring pairings.

Pairings

We recommend our Consesta as an aperitif, paired with vegetable flans, mild cheeses and fish dishes, especially shellfish and sushi.
